ACA is the only carbon management certification programme for airports, which is overseen by the Airport Council International.

The goal is to encourage and allow airports to implement best practices in carbon management, with the ultimate goal of becoming carbon neutral. The program has 4 levels of accreditation, which are reached or renewed annually: (1) Emission mapping, (2) Reduction, (3) Optimization & (3+) Neutrality.

The program is managed by WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff.

As of July 23, 2019, the program totals 275 air terminals in 71 countries covering 43.9% of world passenger traffic.
